This Markdown formatter standardizes Markdown text to remove stylistic drift and improve consistency across documents. By applying a defined rule set, it ensures uniform header spacing, consistent list indentation, predictable line breaks, and reliable code block handling while preserving content semantics. It preserves both fenced and inline code, so examples remain accurate in demonstrations or tutorials. It supports CommonMark base rules with optional GitHub Flavored Markdown features when configured.
It analyzes input Markdown, tokenizes it into a structured representation, and applies rewrite rules to produce a clean, normalized output. Core features include trimming trailing spaces, normalizing blank lines, reflowing text within wrap width, and aligning lists and blocks without altering meaning. Optional settings enable strict mode for table formatting, emphasis conventions, or language-tag support in code fences. The output is idempotent—re-running the formatter on already formatted text yields the same result, enabling safe automation in CI pipelines or batch processing.
