About This Tool

This WSJF (Weighted Shortest Job First) online tool helps agile teams prioritize user stories and features using the formula: WSJF = Cost of Delay ÷ Job Size. Cost of Delay is calculated as the sum of Business Value, Time Criticality, and Risk Reduction/Opportunity Enablement (each rated 1-10). Frequently Asked Questions

Find Quick Answers

What is WSJF and why is it important?

WSJF (Weighted Shortest Job First) is a prioritization framework used in agile methodologies, particularly SAFe. It helps teams prioritize work by calculating Cost of Delay divided by Job Size, ensuring the most valuable and time-sensitive items are addressed first.

How do I rate Business Value, Time Criticality, and RR/OE?

Use a relative scale of 1-10 where 1 is low and 10 is high. Business Value measures economic benefit, Time Criticality measures urgency, and Risk Reduction/Opportunity Enablement (RR/OE) measures risk mitigation or opportunity capture potential.

What units should I use for Job Size?

Job Size represents effort required. You can use story points (common in agile) or ideal days. The tool accepts any numeric value from 1-100, with higher numbers indicating larger effort.

Can I save or export my WSJF calculations?

Yes, the tool allows you to export your prioritized backlog as a CSV file for sharing with your team or importing into other tools.
