About This Tool
Core Logic: Required: file upload, target_format, and optional parameters bitrate (kbps), sample_rate (Hz), and channels (mono or stereo). Optional/advanced: batch processing up to five files per run, metadata preservation, and codec-compatibility checks. The tool uses a robust server-side transcoding engine and adheres to common codec defaults. It does not edit audio, normalize volume, apply effects, or remove DRM. Outputs follow industry standards and respect input metadata when available.
Inputs & Outputs: Inputs: input_file(s) (binary), required; target_format (string), required; bitrate (integer kbps), optional; sample_rate (integer Hz), optional; channels (string: mono/stereo), optional; preserve_metadata (boolean), optional. Outputs: output_file (binary) with the chosen extension; estimated_size (KB or MB based on duration and bitrate); logs or notes about duration alignment.
Algorithms & Calculations: The core calculation for size estimation uses duration and bitrate: size_kb = duration_seconds * bitrate_kbps / 8. If duration is unknown, estimation may be omitted. Quality is determined by codec and bitrate; converting to a lossy format reduces data beyond the lossless input. If converting between lossless codecs, re-encoding occurs only when formats require it.
Error & Edge Cases: Handles missing input or target format with error codes; unsupported input or output formats; file size or duration limits; long processing queues; backend service outages; corrupted input files; invalid parameter values beyond codec limits. Returns structured status indicators rather than UI messages.
Industry/Region & Localization: Codecs: MP3, AAC, WAV, FLAC, OGG, M4A; standard sample rates 44.1 kHz and 48 kHz; bitrate ranges per codec (e.g., MP3 32–320 kbps). Outputs align with international streaming and distribution norms; no country-specific constraints beyond allowed codecs.
Assumptions & Exclusions: Assumes uploaded files are legally owned and not DRM-protected; no editing, normalization, or multi-pass processing unless supported; no video or metadata editing beyond preservation; no watermarking. Out of scope: live streaming, real-time conversion, or batch beyond five files per run.
How to Use
- Upload source file(s) and select the desired output format and optional parameters (bitrate, sample rate, channels).
- (Optional) Enable metadata preservation and batch processing if converting multiple files.
- Start the conversion job; the backend transcodes using a standard codec pipeline.
- Retrieve and download the converted file(s); verify duration and quality against the original.
- If needed, repeat with different settings to compare quality and size.
