About This Tool

This online AHP calculator helps you make complex decisions using the Analytic Hierarchy Process methodology. Input your decision criteria, perform pairwise comparisons to establish relative importance, and calculate priority weights for each criterion. The tool automatically computes consistency ratios to ensure your comparisons are logically sound. Perfect for business decisions, project selection, resource allocation, and any multi-criteria analysis.

How to Use

  1. Add your decision criteria using the input field and 'Add Criterion' button.
  2. Once you have at least 2 criteria, a pairwise comparison matrix will appear.
  3. For each cell in the matrix, enter how much more important the row criterion is compared to the column criterion (use values from 1-9 scale, where 1 means equally important and 9 means extremely more important).
  4. Click 'Calculate AHP' to compute priority weights and consistency ratio.
  5. Review the results: priority weights show relative importance of each criterion, and consistency ratio indicates logical consistency of your comparisons (should be <
  6. 1 for acceptable consistency).

Frequently Asked Questions

Find Quick Answers

What is AHP?
AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process) is a structured technique for organizing and analyzing complex decisions, based on mathematics and psychology. It helps decision-makers set priorities and make the best decision when both qualitative and quantitative aspects need to be considered.
What do the numbers in the pairwise comparison matrix mean?
Use the 1-9 scale: 1 = equally important, 3 = moderately more important, 5 = strongly more important, 7 = very strongly more important, 9 = extremely more important. Use intermediate values (2,4,6,8) for compromises. For example, if Criterion A is 'strongly more important' than Criterion B, enter 5 in the A vs B cell.
What is an acceptable consistency ratio?
A consistency ratio (CR) below 0.10 (10%) is generally considered acceptable. If CR is higher, your pairwise comparisons may be inconsistent and you should review them. The tool will warn you if CR exceeds 0.10.
How many criteria can I add?
The tool supports up to 10 criteria for practical usability. For more complex decisions with many criteria, consider grouping them into hierarchies.
