About This Tool

The tool converts DCM (DICOM) image data into widely viewable JPEG files suitable for review and sharing in non-DICOM environments. It handles single-frame and multi-frame DCMs by producing one or more JPEGs per frame, applying VOI LUT and rescale if present, and converting color space as configured. Output JPEGs can be quality-tuned to balance fidelity and file size. This approach supports clinicians preparing reports, researchers analyzing images outside PACS, and IT teams integrating imaging into non-DICOM pipelines. The conversion process focuses on preserving diagnostic content in the pixel data while enabling fast distribution and viewing with standard image tools. It does not replace a full DICOM viewer or PACS, and it intentionally limits metadata exposure to minimize privacy concerns. Batch capability allows multiple inputs to be processed in sequence, with per-file results and optional ZIP packaging for convenient download. The tool adheres to DICOM-derived expectations for pixel decoding and safety checks, and it provides error signaling when inputs are invalid or unsupported. In practice, users can convert a study’s series to a folder of JPEGs for rapid distribution or clinical review outside specialized viewers.
