About This Tool

This tool generates passwords with user-defined length and character class constraints (uppercase, lowercase, digits, symbols). It supports excluding ambiguous characters and enforcing minimum presence of each chosen class when required. It uses a crypto-secure RNG to ensure high entropy.
Conceptually, the generator builds a pool from selected character sets, optionally excludes ambiguous characters, and ensures at least one character from each selected class when required. If a seed is provided, generation is deterministic; otherwise results are non-deterministic. Entropy is estimated from the pool size and final password length, with adjustments for constraints.
Use cases include creating new credentials, rotating passwords, or exporting passwords for vault imports. The tool differentiates itself with reproducibility through seeding, strict class coverage controls, and transparent entropy reporting, while avoiding storage or automatic credential management.

How to Use

  1. Provide inputs: set length, select character classes, and optional seed.
  2. Optional: enable exclude_ambiguous and require_all_classes as needed.
  3. Generate to produce a password.
  4. Copy the password to clipboard or export to vault.
  5. If a seed was provided, re-run to reproduce the same output.

Frequently Asked Questions

Find Quick Answers

Is this generator cryptographically secure?
Yes. It uses a cryptographically secure pseudorandom number generator (CSPRNG) to select characters from the allowed pool. If a seed is supplied, generation becomes deterministic for testing or scripting; otherwise results are non-deterministic.
Can I guarantee at least one character from each selected class?
Yes. When require_all_classes is enabled, the algorithm reserves one position for each chosen class, fills the remainder from the full pool, then shuffles to produce a uniformly random result.
What happens if no character classes are selected?
The tool rejects the input and reports an error since a password would have no pool to draw from, preventing insecure outputs.
Can I export or reuse a generated password?
Yes. The password is provided as a single string output; you can copy it to clipboard or export to a vault. If a seed is used, you can reproduce the same password in future runs.
